LCSA's CYMRU Wins 2011 Cape Charles Cup Cruising Division.
(Sept 2011)
Dr Bob Howell and his team on CYMRU ate up the race course in the 2011 Cape Charles Cup held on August 20th and 21st. They had a great race on Saturday, and matched it with another excellent performance on Sunday to win the overall award.
The award goes to the boat with the lowest corrected time for the 2 days combined. On Saturday CYMRU was second in their Cruising A division, good enough for third overall on the day. Then on Sunday, Bob & his team won their division, and again were third overall for the day. The combined corrected times were the shortest of all, good for the overall win in the 52 boat division. |

8th Annual BBSA Neptune's Atlantic Regatta (Saturday Oct 1st).
(Sept 2011)
A race that is part of Virginia Beach's annual Neptune Festival. For Big Boats; a race from just north of Little Creek, around Cape Henry, finishing in front of the Virginia Beach oceanfront. Its a pursuit start, so the smaller boats go first, and the bigger boats later, and first boat to finish wins!
There is also the First Annual Neptune Festival Dinghy Ocean Challenge, which is part of the Neptune's Atlantic Regatta. These races will be held off the oceanfront of Virginia Beach.

8th Annual Cape Charles Cup (Aug 20th - 21st).
(July 2011)
The Cape Charles Cup is the fastest-growing sailboat evect in the Southern Chesapeake Bay. This event has grown from 13 to nearly 90 entries in seven years. Join us and find out what all the excitement is about.
Fri 8/19 1800 - Pre-race party and skippers meeting at Bay Point Marina (Little Creek, Norfolk).
Sat 8/20 1000 - Race from Little Creek to Cape Charles. Post-race party at Bay Creek Marina (Cape Charles).
Sun 8/21 1000 - Race back across the Bay, finishing off Buckroe.

13th Annual Southern Chesapeake Leukemia Cup Regatta (July 8th - 10th).
(June 2011)
Fishing Bay Yacht Club and Stingray Harbour Yacht Club, co-sponsors of the
Southern Chesapeake Leukemia Cup Regatta in Deltaville, are preparing for
the grand finale of the 2011 Leukemia Cup series of events which take place
over the weekend of July 8 - 10. All shoreside events will again be hosted
by Stingray Point Marina.
Crabcake dinner, plus silent auction, and live auction, on Friday evening, racing is Saturday & Sunday. Join the fun and support a very worthy cause.

Rebel Marine Nautical Flea Market.
(April 2011) Rebel Marine (Willoughby) will hold their 3rd annual Nautical Flea Market and Craft Sale on Saturday morning April 30th, 2011. Proceeds from table rentals, 50/50 raffle, & donations, benefit The Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race Educational Programs.
Admission: Free for Shoppers. Vendor Table $20-30. Space $40-60.

Annual BBSA Cruise on the good ship American Rover .
(April 2011) BBSA will take its annual sail on the American Rover on Tuesday, April 19th, which is our regular meeting night. We will be boarding the Rover promptly at 6:45pm for a 7:00pm cruise. Members and their immediate families have been guests of Captain Brook Smith (son of Sonny Smith) on the American Rover for over 15 years. Please bring a snack or appetizer to share, and of course drinks are available for purchase from the bar onboard as in years past. Even though the trip is a free membership benefit, the crew will be working hard to earn your generous tip. We’ll be taking a collection at the end of the cruise to show the crew our appreciation. |
